Ancient Baobabs and Elephant Herds
Northern Tanzania
Tarangire National Park is famous for its ancient baobab trees and the largest concentration of elephants in northern Tanzania. During the dry season, thousands of animals converge on the Tarangire River — the only permanent water source in the area.
The park is often combined with Serengeti and Ngorongoro on a northern circuit safari, offering a quieter and more intimate game viewing experience.
June–October is peak season when animals gather at the river. The park is open year-round.
