Discover the Island of Spices at Its Source
Zanzibar Excursion
Zanzibar earned the name "Spice Island" for good reason. For centuries, the island was the world's largest producer of cloves, and its spice farms still grow an extraordinary variety of tropical spices and fruits. Our spice farm is located in Dole village — the very heart of Zanzibar's spice belt.
On this tour you will walk through lush plantations guided by local farmers who have worked the land for generations. You will see, smell, and taste cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, nutmeg, cardamom, vanilla, lemongrass, and dozens of tropical fruits. It is a deeply sensory and educational experience that connects you to the island's soul.
Historically, the spice trade made Zanzibar one of the most strategically important islands in the Indian Ocean. Arab, Persian, Indian, and Portuguese traders all came here for spices, shaping the island's unique multicultural identity.
Year-round. The farm is most lush and fragrant during the rainy season (March–May), but tours run every day.
